    1. Go to www.hotjobs.com/applicant/.
    2. Enter your name, e-mail address and password. (Remember your current e-mail address is also your HotJobs' user name and is case sensitive.)

How can I control which companies see my resume?
Our system is unique in that it allows you to block some or all of our member companies from viewing your resume -- ideal if you want to keep your job search confidential. To take advantage of this feature:

  • Login to myHotJobs.
  • Click "Change Privacy Settings" from the main menu.
  • Choose to make your resume "Viewable" to all Direct Employers.
  • Click on "Save Changes."
  • In the "Employer HotBlock Settings" click on "Add a HotBlock."
  • Type in the name of the company you do not want to view your resume, then click the "Search Employers" icon.
  • Click the checkbox next to the name of the company you wish to block and click the "Block Selected Employers" button.
  • You may change this information as often as you like.
Also, Staffing Firms will never see your resume on HotJobs.com unless you choose to make it viewable to them. Staffing Firms are not allowed to search our resume database, as traditional employers do.

Why is the formatting off in my resume?
Most formatting problems happen when our system converts your resume to ASCII text. Converting your resume to ASCII enables all our hiring companies to read it -- regardless of what word processors or Web browsers they use. Below are some tips for improving your resume's look and feel in ASCII. Remember, clean and simple are best.

  • Create or save your resume in plain text (.txt) before posting it to HotJobs.com. This may restrict your creativity, but it will relieve you of major formatting errors.
  • ASCII does not understand tab, bold, italics or other formatting commands. It does understand the keys and characters on your keyboard, so you might want to be creative with capital letters and spaces.
  • Align your text to the left.
  • Try to keep each line of your resume under 80 characters. The system wraps text beyond 80 characters.
  • Use of ASCII for resumes is standard across the Web; recruiters will not hold a couple of formatting errors against you.
  • If some particular enhancement is an integral part of your resume, but is not permitted by ASCII, mention in your cover letter that your full resume is available upon request.

Why can't I paste my resume using AOL?
AOL users who experience problems cutting and pasting their resumes using the AOL browser have gotten around the problem by using Netscape. To do this:

  • Minimize your AOL window.
  • Click on Netscape.
  • Use the Netscape browser to cut and paste your resume.
  • You can also use Internet Explorer to post your resume.

How do I delete my resume?
Before you delete your resume, you should consider making it completely private to all Direct Employers and Staffing Firms. Why? You will always want to consider new employment opportunities, and keeping your myHotJobs account active allows you to keep a record of jobs you've applied to and jobs you are interested in.

If you are concerned about your current employer viewing your resume, you can go to the Privacy option on your myHotJobs page. Click on the "Privacy Settings" option to block some or all of our companies from viewing your resume.

If you want to replace your resume, go to the "Edit Your Resume" page and save your changes.

If, however, you are absolutely positive that you want to delete your resume from HotJobs.com and thus terminate your account, you can do so by clicking on Delete Resume on the myHotJobs home page. Click on the Delete My Resume button. This will delete your resume and profile, delete any statistics, delete your name from any of our companies' online databases, and prevent you from logging in to myHotJobs. You will be transported to our homepage upon successful deletion.

    Thank you for using HotJobs.com!
