  • What is a personal Job Search Agent?
Hundreds of new jobs are added to HotJobs.com every day. Your personal Job Search Agent drills through these listings, matching jobs to your hand-picked keywords. Then, your agent e-mails you the results of its search. Each job listing contains the job title, the name of the hiring company and a link to the complete posting on our site. You can set up as many free, personal Job Search Agents as you want and can edit their keywords as many times as you like.

How do I create a Job Search Agent?

  • Login to myHotJobs.
  • Click "Create Search Agent."
  • The first field on the form will ask you to name your agent. Most of our users have more than one agent and choose names that remind them what the agent does i.e. "Product Manager," "Actor," "Writer."
  • In the "keywords" field, add specific words that you want your agent to find in the body of the job descriptions. For example, if you want to find a job description that has "Windows 95" and "Java" in the body, you would simply type "Windows 95 Java." There is no need for "and/or" combinations.
  • If you specify a "Job Type" for your agent, it will notify you of jobs that appear in that industry only.
  • If you're looking for a job in a specific city or state, you can choose up to three locations for each agent you create.
  • To put the agent to work, click "create agent."

My Job Search Agent isn't sending me any matches.
If your Job Search Agent isn't producing results, your search criteria may be too narrow. Try using more general terms or larger cities in your criteria. You may want to create more than one search agent for the same job. Experiment with different word combinations to see what works best for you. Remember, this agent searches jobs posted in the last seven days. Your chances are renewed every time a company posts a new job on the site.

My Job Search Agent is sending me irrelevant matches.
If your Job Search Agent is returning irrelevant results, try narrowing your search. You may want to enter one keyword/phrase instead of several. For example, if you are searching for sales jobs, try using "sales," instead of "sales," "account executive" and "account representative." Also, consider creating multiple agents for your job search.
